Trip to Ebbsfleet United

Earlier this week I visited the Kuflink stadium to speak to fans and club directors about Ebbsfleet's tough financial situation.

The Kent-based side had five winding-up petitions issued to them last season, with players being paid late on multiple occasions.

Despite this, Chief Executive Dave Archer said the club is in a much better position now, due to the investment made by Kuwaiti owner Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi.

Mr Archer, who has held chief executive positions at both Charlton Athletic and Millwall, was critical of the National League and the support it gives non-league clubs going through financial problems.

I also spoke to John Burgess (pictured above), chairman of the Ebbsfleet Supporters' Trust, about the tough period endured last season when the club was on the brink of collapse.

He said fans were taking photos of each other and discussing other non-league teams to follow, as no one thought the club would survive.

Stay tuned for preview clips and the whole podcast being posted over the next month.
